Acceptance of Terms

By using Clex ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These terms apply to clex.in, the browser workspace, Vault, and related supporting services.

Description of Service

Clex is a browser-based file workspace that provides:

• File preparation tools (image compression, PDF operations, DOCX to PDF conversion, ZIP bundling)
• File sharing via direct P2P transfer (WebRTC)
• File sharing via local network transfer
• File sharing via Google Drive as a fallback mechanism
• Vault for encrypted local notes, controlled secret links, and timed Google Drive share links

Most processing happens in your browser. Direct P2P and local transfers are not stored on our servers. Google Drive fallback stores files in your Google account. Vault Cloud Share uses temporary Drive sessions with explicit size, quota, and retention limits.

User Responsibilities

When using Clex, you agree to:

• Use the Service only for lawful purposes
• Not transmit any content that violates applicable laws or third-party rights
• Not attempt to interfere with, compromise, or disrupt the Service
• Not use the Service to distribute malware, viruses, or other harmful software
• Not misuse the signaling server or attempt to overload the infrastructure
• Accept responsibility for all content you process, store, reveal, share, or transfer through the Service
• Share Vault secrets and timed Drive-share links only with recipients you trust and intend to authorize

Vault Keys and Local Data

Vault depends on local keys, local storage, or keys you intentionally import or derive through supported flows. You are responsible for maintaining access to your Vault data, keeping backup material secure, and understanding that key rotation or data clearing may make existing encrypted content unreadable.

Vault Secret Share Terms

Secret Share allows you to publish an encrypted secret with an expiry and optional protections. By using Secret Share, you understand and accept the following:

• If View once is disabled, a recipient may reopen the secret until the expiry time is reached
• Client-side protections such as no-select, tab-switch lock, and DevTools guard are best-effort browser controls, not absolute guarantees against capture or disclosure
• Anyone with the complete secret URL may be able to reveal the content until the secret expires or is consumed under its policy

Vault Cloud Share Terms

Cloud Share is a timed Google Drive handoff feature and is subject to operational limits:

• Google Drive sign-in is required to upload and manage Vault Drive sessions
• Each uploaded file is limited to 1 GB
• Each connected account is limited to 10 GB of Vault Drive uploads per day
• Vault Drive sessions are scheduled for deletion after 24 hours
• Anyone with the Vault link or access code may open the file or folder until the session expires or is deleted

Vault Drive sharing is intended for temporary handoff, not archival use or guaranteed long-term storage.

Intellectual Property

The Clex brand, design, code, and interface are the intellectual property of Clex and its creators. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute the Service's code or design without explicit permission.

Your files, notes, and content remain yours. Clex does not claim ownership of the material you process, store, or transfer through the Service.

Third-Party Services

Parts of the Service rely on third-party providers. When you use those paths, their terms may also apply.

• Google Drive based sharing is subject to Google's terms and policies
• Google/Firebase authentication is subject to Google's terms and policies
• Vault Cloud Share stores files in the user's own Google Drive account and relies on Clex cleanup metadata to remove expired sessions after 24 hours

Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that:

• The Service will be uninterrupted or error-free
• File transfers, secret reveals, or relay uploads will always succeed
• P2P connections will always be possible on every network
• Browser-enforced protection features will defeat every capture method
• Timed Drive-share files will remain available beyond the intended retention window

Browser limits, network conditions, and third-party infrastructure can affect how the Service behaves.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Clex and its creators shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including loss of access to encrypted local data, failed transfers, expired relay links, or third-party service outages.

Termination

We reserve the right to restrict or terminate access to the Service if we believe you are violating these terms or using the Service in a way that could harm other users or the infrastructure.

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
